A Global Cleantech Company

QSBR Innovations Inc. is an Research & Development  firm with a focus in solar thermal energy and heat transfer.

Areas of Expertise:
  • System Design - turning conceptual ideas into final designs
  • System Optimization - taking existing system and optimizing performance based on computer modeling and simulation
  • System Assembly - building functioning prototypes for laboratory and field testing
  • Solar System design, Certification and Sales through our sales division Quality Solar Systems, (QSS)

QSBRI also holds several patents in heat transfer and solar thermal. Passive Back Flush (PBF) technology prevents fouling and scale build up in heat exchangers.  Allowing for the use of compact plate heat exchangers in applications and regions previously inaccessible due to hard water.
Integral Stagnation Control (ISC) prevent overheating in solar thermal and PVT collectors, optimizing performance and reliability.

Working with Dr. Stephen Harrison, director of the Solar Calorimetric Laboratory at Queen’s University, QSBRI works to provide fast, accurate consulting services as well as developing new Intellectual Property and seeking licensing partners worldwide.

Featured Technologies

QSBRI is currently commercializing two innovative technologies: Passive Back Flush (PBF) and Integral Stagnation Control (ISC).  These two technologies are the result of years of research and development by Dr. Stephen Harrison and have a decade of tested, recorded experience.  Both have numerous applications in the global solar and HVAC industries and QSBRI is currently working with partners to develop these technologies into commercial successes .

News in Brief

QSBRI Presents to SWITCH on PBF Technology April 1 2022

This presentation will focus on one of QSBRI in house technology developments, Passive Back Flush, (PBF). This innovative technology was developed at Queen’s University and used in the EnerWorks solar thermal system. QSBRI has recently engaged Neoperl Inc. a valve manufacturer to help with the design and fabrication of a new PBF valve that can be used in high performance heat pumps. This presentation explains the problem of fouling in heat exchangers, the benefits of PBF and the changing landscape of the domestic hot water heating market in North America and globally.

Please visit our certifications page for more details and contact us for more information.

Thermochemical Storage project with NRCan

QSBRI signs agreement with Natural Resources Canada to design and build a Thermochemical Energy Storage (TCES) system. TCES technology seeks to change how Canadians heat their homes and water by using off peak electricity (at night)to heat a storage medium and then use that heat during peak hours (during the day).
